Work at STEM4Kids: summer camp instructors and assistants
We run week-long robotics, coding and art camps for children ages 5–14 at two South Bay campuses, June to August. Camp days run 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM with extended care either side. Groups are small, every week is a new project, and the people in the room are what make it work.
Roles
We hire ahead of each summer. There are no open roles right now; email info@stem4kids.co to be considered for 2027.
Lead instructor
Teaches one camp (LEGO® or VEX® robotics, Python, Scratch, or art) for one or more weeks, runs the Friday showcase for families, and places each child at the right level on Monday morning. Teaching or coaching experience with this age group matters more than a specific degree; you do need to know the subject well enough to un-stick a twelve-year-old quickly.
Camp assistant
Supports the lead instructor, runs drop-off and pick-up with photo-ID checks, supervises lunch and extended care, and keeps the room and kits in order. A good fit for college students and recent graduates who like working with children.
What every role needs
- Availability for whole camp weeks (Monday to Friday) during June–August.
- A background check and CPR / first-aid certification before the first day (we can point you to a course).
- Patience, clear explanations, and a genuine liking for children in this age range.
- Reliability: families plan their summer around us.
