Public Speaking camp at STEM4KidsPublic Speaking Spring Camps in Cupertino & San José for Ages 5–10. Half the day is grade-leveled math and English; the other half your child learns to stand up and be heard — how to gather a thought, form the sentence, speak loud and clear, and hold a room with eye contact and body language. Playful and no-pressure, built a step at a time. Camp runs 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with half-day and extended-care options. No experience needed, and shy children are exactly who this is for.

By Friday: your child will have stood up in front of the group and been heard — and kept their math and reading sharp doing it.

Half the day is grade-leveled math and English; the other half is the whole craft of speaking, in pieces small enough to practice — then practice, a lot, in front of the group, with instructors keeping it light. Shy children are exactly who this is for.

What they actually get up and do
The whole craft, in pieces small enough to practice: storytelling structure and organizing an idea; forming the sentence; speaking clearly, slowly and loudly enough; eye contact, body language and what to do with your hands; listening, and working in a team. Then they practice — a lot. Skills first, then repetition in front of the group, with instructors keeping it light.
If your child is shy
We'd call it the opportunity, not the risk. The week is built to take a child a step at a time out of their comfort zone, so the confidence to stand up and speak is something they build here rather than something they need to arrive with.
The academic half
The same as every academics camp: math, reading and writing leveled to the grade your child is going into this fall, worksheets taught, graded and home every day, and the level moved up if it proves too easy. Tell us what your child needs to work on and the instructors prepare for it. Each camp's page says which half of the day is which — mornings are academics and afternoons are the camp’s own subject.
Does it help at school?
Yes — it's the same set of skills. How you present, how clearly you speak, whether you make eye contact, whether the room is with you: that's a class presentation as much as a camp one.
Friday
Families are invited to the showcase, 11:00 AM–11:45 AM, where each child gives their talk. We share the recordings, along with photos and video from the week, and every worksheet goes home.

My child is shy — is this too much for them?
No — we'd call it the opportunity, not the risk. The week is built to take a child a step at a time out of their comfort zone, with instructors keeping them motivated and engaged, so the confidence to stand up and speak is something they build rather than something they need to arrive with.
What do they actually get up and do?

Does this help with school presentations?

Is there something for families to watch?
Yes. We share recordings of the children presenting, as we do across our camps, along with plenty of photos and video from the week — and every worksheet goes home.
