Coding camp at STEM4KidsCoding Summer Camps in Cupertino & San José for Ages 7–14. Younger campers build games and animations in Scratch; from age 9, campers write real Python — variables, loops, functions, then classes and data structures. Camp runs 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with half-day and extended-care options. No experience needed: instructors assess every camper on Monday and start them where they actually are. We never write a line of code for them, and a second week picks up where the first one stopped rather than repeating it.

By Friday: your child will have written working Python programs they can run, change and show you.
Two camps: Scratch for younger campers, real Python from age 9 — variables, loops, functions, then classes and data structures. Instructors assess every camper on Monday and start them where they actually are, and a second week picks up where the first one stopped rather than repeating it.
An honest word about time. A level takes about two full weeks for most campers. We are not teaching Python as a one-week crash course — it is a core subject, built level on level, over terms and summers. Finishing a week partway through a level is normal; the next week starts there.
We do not write the solution. Not one line — every line of code a camper leaves with is their own. The full path, with example builds for each level, is on the Python page.
Parents are invited. We ask the camper to walk you through their own work — what they built, what broke, what they fixed. Instructors are there afterward to talk through how your child is progressing and what comes next.
Nothing repeats. Instructors place each camper on Monday morning, so a returning camper picks up at the next chapter rather than the first one. This is why families do two and three weeks a summer and come back the following year.
Scratch campers use one of ours for the week. Python campers bring their own so everything they write stays with them — and if you don't have one to spare, email info@stem4kids.co before camp and we'll reserve a loaner.

Coding questions
They're built for different ages. Scratch comes first — we're firm believers in it as a way to teach problem-solving and logic without the child fighting syntax errors. Python starts at 9, in real Python 3, with multiple weeks of curriculum; campers often come back across summers and keep building on it.
No to both. Typing is not a requirement — that's an expectation to leave at the door; children pick it up as they go. Math isn't required either, though it helps in places: some of the logic and problem-solving work leans on math concepts. The curriculum is written for the age band, so we take care of that.
Only for Python. Scratch campers use one of our laptops for the week. Python campers bring their own, so that everything they write stays with them — and if you don't have one to spare, email info@stem4kids.co before camp and we'll reserve a loaner.
Everything they wrote that week is on the laptop, so at the Friday showcase your child can walk you through their games, projects and exercises, and show you where they got to in the curriculum. The instructor is standing right there — that's the moment to ask how the week went and what the next one would cover.
